Day 1 - Opening Day

Treat yourself to a fantastic day out with top quality racing and entertainment.

The opening day of the 2021 Ayr Gold Cup Festival is one not to be missed, with top class racing, a great atmosphere and of course an unforgettable day out at Scotland’s most iconic flat racing Festival.

The first of three days of quality racing featuring top rated horses from leading stables ridden by the cream of the country’s jockeys.

The highlight of this afternoon’s seven races is a Class 2 handicap over 1m 2f for the Kilkerran Cup – one of the oldest and most prestigious trophies run for at Ayr. Last year’s winner was First Impression for trainer John Quinn and jockey Ben Curtis and invariably this race produces an exciting contest. A trainer who consistently sends out winners at the festival is Tim Easterby who saddled Eclipse De Lunar to win the opening mile race on the card in 2020 the first of five successes he enjoyed during the week.

Today’s action helps whet the appetite for what’s to come later in the week.
