Day 1 - Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup Opening Day

Treat yourself to a fantastic day out with top quality racing and entertainment.

It’s the opening afternoon of Scotland’s richest Flat race meeting – the Virgin Bet Ayr Gold Cup Festival, and the start of a weekend packed with quality racing, fantastic fun, glitz, glamour and high class entertainment

Today’s headline race is the Kilkerran Cup, one of the oldest races run at the track, and in 2021 we had a really emphatic winner in Keith Dalgleish’s Chichester who spreadeagled the field to win by six and a half lengths.

The opening race is a mile contest for two year olds which has been won in recent years by leading northern yards including those of Tim Easterby and Richard Fahey who won last year with Gorak.

Today’s action helps whet the appetite for what’s to come later in the week.

Gates Open : 11.50am

First Race : 1.50pm   Last Race : 5.15pm

Please note timings are subject to change.

And don’t rush home for after the last race there is live entertainment with Chart Society playing for three hours in the Club Stand.
